Biographical Text
After her father died, Mary and her sister Jeanette (Nettie) traveled to Florence, Italy to live with their mother Mary Ridgway. There they participated in numerous charities and were awarded "The Silver Medal of Merit" in Italy in 1929 for their charitable work in Public Health. The two sisters also traveled with their aunt, Emma Buttles Andrews, on parts of her journey down the Nile. As an artist, Mary often painted and drew images she saw on her travels in Italy and Egypt.
